Staff FAQ

How do I get a job at GVR?
The hiring process starts with the applicant downloading the application from the website and filling it out completely. You will also need 3 references and send everything to the Rocky Mountain Conference by email, fax, or mail. The Youth Director will then review all applications and begin the interview process.  After the staff for the year has been chosen a letter will be sent out to everyone who had been hired and another letter thanking those who did not get hired for applying.  Please remember there are limited staff spots available.

What documents do I need to bring with me to camp, if I am hired?
Summer Camp Team,

We want to make sure that you have an important reminder regarding your employment paperwork, specifically the I-9 form. You must remember to bring the proper identification with you OR have the form properly completed before arriving at Camp. The following information was in your employment packet, please read it carefully and follow all of the instructions. We need you to be ready to work and do not want to see you sit on the sidelines waiting for your ID to arrive before you can get started! Thank you for taking the time now to be prepared for May 30.

Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification Form
This form allows the Conference to collect information from you that verifies that you are eligible to work in the United States. Even if you worked for the Camp/Conference in past years, unless your employment has been continuous since that time, you are being asked to complete it again. There are 3 Sections to the form. Section 1 must be completed by you no later than your first day of employment. Section 2, must be completed by the Conference/Camp no later than your third day of employment; however, Section 2 cannot be completed until you provide the necessary identification. Section 3, we don’t need to worry about.

Here’s what you need to do:
1. Section 1: Complete all, making sure to both sign and date the form at the bottom of
Section 1.
2. Section 2: from the lists on the back of the form, be prepared to present either one
document from list A OR one document from list B AND one document from list C. For
documents, please note the following:
a. All documents must be originals! We cannot accept photocopies.
b. Social Security cards must be signed in order to be valid.
c. All documents must be unexpired.
d. Birth certificates must be issued with an official seal (hospital certificates are not valid).
e. All documents must have the same first and last names as listed on the employment application.

NOTE: If you live in the Denver area, you can bring your I-9 form and documents to the
Conference’s Human Resources office to complete prior to arriving at camp. If you live outside
of the Denver area, there may be options for you as well. Please contact the HR office at
303.282.3610 or 800.254.9687, ext. 1610 for more information.

So what happens if I arrive at camp without a completed I-9?

ANSWER:
1. It’s not problem as long as you can complete Section 1 no later than the first day of
employment and provide the appropriate, original forms of identification no later than
your 3rd day of employment.
OR
2. It’s a BIG problem and could result in termination if you can’t provide the appropriate,
original forms of identification no later than your 3rd day of employment.
(REMEMBER, we CANNOT accept photocopies or faxes from home if you forget to
bring your identification with you. We MUST see the originals!!!)
